What is counseling/therapy?
The terms ‘counseling’ and ‘therapy’ can be used interchangeably. You will work collaboratively with a trained
professional who will support you in resolving personal conflicts and emotional difficulties. There are numerous therapy modalities but all offer support as you make the changes you wish to see in
your life.
How do I know if I should see a
counselor/therapist?
If you are not content with your current life and have been unable to make lasting changes that you desire, then
therapy might be a good option. If you are hesitant, start with the free 15 minute phone consultation, 608-628-7147. Your initial appointment can be used to explore whether therapy is a good fit for
you. During your first visit, your therapist will work with you and make recommendations based on your concerns and goals.
What should I look for in a counselor/therapist?
“Fit” is one of the most important factors in choosing a counselor. Speaking with the counselor before the first session will help determine whether we can successfully work toward your goals. Call today for your free 15 minute phone consultation, 608-628-7147.
How long are sessions?
A typical session is between 45 to 50 minutes. Longer sessions are provided as needed depending on your
goals.
Is it confidential?
Yes. We follow HIPAA guidelines as well as professional counselor ethical guidelines. These guidelines impose
some limitations to your rights to confidentiality. The following is a list of situations when you may lose your right to confidentiality:
Minors also have a limited right to privacy. Parents may
have access to your records. However, if your therapist believes sharing this information will be harmful to you, confidentiality will be maintained to the limits of the law.
Group Therapy: The right to confidentiality is addressed in the group setting; however, Authenticity Counseling and group therapists are not responsible for any breaches of
confidentiality by group members.
How often do I need to see a counselor?
Depending on your budget and need, many clients show success with weekly or bi-monthly sessions.
How long will I need to be in therapy
for?
Just as each client is unique, so is their time in therapy. Depending on your needs and goals, you might be able
complete therapy in just a few sessions while others require ongoing therapy. During our first session, I will help you exploring what therapy will look like for you.
What populations do you work with?
Adults, teens, children and their parents
What issues do you work with?
Anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, school difficulties, parenting concerns, and life transitions
How much does counseling cost?
Initial Session: $165 for 90 minutes
Regular Session: $130 for 50 minutes
Wrap-Around Care: weekly session w/child, monthly parent groups, weekly e-mail check-ins with parents, and unlimited texting support for teens (flat monthly rate applies)
No you take insurance?
Cash, check or credit card payments are due at the beginning of each session. I am an out-of-network provider which means that you can check with your insurance company about out-of-network benefits. I will provide you with something called a 'superbill' which you would then submit to your insurance for partial reimbursement (depending on plan) or for flexplan/medical savings account disbursement.
